I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.” These are the gentle thoughts resounding in my mind as I begin to brainstorm for my very first women’s empowerment brunch. I can visualize a room full of electric energy causing ideas of life-changing enterprises to be kindled, desires of continuing higher education ignited, stronger prayer lives erected, and the exchange of high-fives across the aisles! And that right there my friend, is the power which launches a mission worth pursuing. The power of allowing God to use your natural desires, interests, and personality to make a greater impact in the lives of others.
Often your mission is right under your nose, but we discount the impact our ideas, passions, and projects can cause. The reason God uniquely created you is to do something extraordinary with your life. Coming to the understanding that all your efforts are being aligned with heaven gives life greater meaning. Once you have an inkling that God is up to something in your life, it is your duty to pursue Him.
Seeking God for clarity and direction in order to discover your mission is imperative. The who, what, when and where may be vague, but this is where you are able to grow in full dependence on God in order for the plan to unfold.
When you answer the call to follow your God-given mission, it’s then where your potential and purpose collide to do the unthinkable and reach the unreachable. There’s enough power and influence in your God-given mission to eradicate human trafficking, innovate the next technological advance, pen a New York Times Best Seller, or empower the next generation of leaders. When we seek to know the mystery of our existence, God will reveal the mosaic plan which connects the dots of our past experiences to our present mission.
As you seek the Lord, He will illuminate His master plan and bring clarity to that which is confusing and daunting.
Here are a few tips to help you discover your mission:
- Get quiet: The world is loud and fast, but when we pull away to the feet of our Lord, it is in those quiet moments we are able to receive our next action steps.
- Don’t compare: Your mission is as unique as you are. Don’t get mixed up in comparisons and waste your time duplicating others. When you do this, you are leaving your mission untouched and your purpose unfulfilled.
- Practice immediate obedience: Now what is the point of hearing from God if we don’t plan to act on His commands? Delayed obedience is still disobedience. Trust God at His word and move forward towards a mission that is full of adventure at every turn.
When you take these steps you will discover how special you are. You will have begun the awesome journey of self-discovery, and can finally answer “What is my purpose?” Your mission is worth the journey, and with the all-knowing God on your side, there is no other option than good success.
What is holding you back from discovering your mission? How can you take steps to pursue your mission?

Love this! “Often your mission is right under your nose, but we discount the impact our ideas, passions, and projects can cause. The reason God uniquely created you is to do something extraordinary with your life.”
I’ve heard someone say before, that “destiny leaves clues” Your mission us right there, slow down to hear from the Lord
love love, I have known what my mission has been for a while to inspire, encourage and nourish through my art and soap making. I have been in much meditation and prayer as to which direction to go so that I can serve better allowing God to direct me and help me gain clarity, so that I don’t loose site of what my mission is, making sure it is all God driven.
What an awesome mission. I pray that God’s amazing grace meets you at every corner.
Great post! Often times, if we take a moment to think long and hard, we know deep down inside what our purpose or life’s mission is. The thing that often holds us back from pursuing these things is fear. Fear of failure. Fear of what others my think. Fear of the unknown. Once we can push past the fear and trust in God to guide as we pursue our mission, we will then begin to realize what a magnificent plan God has for our life! It’s time to discover…
Your comments just blessed me! Fear is such a thief, it robs us of great miracles and even more steals the shine from Jesus!
We will push forward!
Great Job Lady Jenn! I ask myself everyday as well. I really look up to you and you give me motivation. I now truly believe all things are possible and have started putting my hands to work.

Thank you Kisha! You keep smiling and allowing God to do His best work through you.
“Delayed obedience is still disobedience.”
Wow! Funny how I keep telling myself, “I will give up x as a sacrifice to you as soon as y happens,” or “I will start tithing regularly once I’m not paycheck-to-paycheck,” or “I know you’ve put it on my heart to do x but I need to wait for y to happen first, then I can dedicate myself to it.”
Delayed obedience is still disobedience. Powerful.
I can relate to your reply. Thought I’m learning obedience, and know what my mission is, I’m still struggling financially and that is my distraction.
Thank you so much for sharing this. There is so much truth to this advice and I think that often we can get caught up in to do lists, books, and our own fears and in the process we shy away from the real source of wisdom and truth. At least I do.
So true. God is searching to and fro looking for someone to show himself strong to. II Chronicles 16:9
I really enjoyed this post! Thanks for sharing these tips. You are so right about our missions being right under our noses! I feel like I’ve come full circle with my own purpose. For me I think it took some time for God to work on my heart and mature me before I could really accept the calling He has on my life. #2 really resonated with me. It’s so easy to compare yourself to others when it seems like they are moving ahead in their endeavors but comparison can get you off track for sure and steal your joy so thanks for the reminder! I hope all went well with your brunch!
Dija, you are too original and unique to compare. Be strong in His might!
Thank you for this post, Jennifer. It’s a great encouragement for me. I decided to follow His nudging finally, March this year, and started my Christian apparel brand. My mission is to give people tools to share God’s message thru clothing and also spread awareness about human trafficking. I feel joy doing this, even though it’s not easy. Your message about not comparing myself to others is so true. God has assigned me my own path to run this company. It might be a slow track, but I’m encouraged to keep walking on it, since I know it’s the right one. Thank you!

What a great gift the Holy Spirit is. He won’t let go of us, because our missions are too important. Much success on your apparel company.
“Once you have an inkling that God is up to something in your life, it is your duty to pursue Him.” MIC DROP! Wonderful post Lady Jenn!
Haha! Relentlessly we will pursue Him! Glad the post blessed you.
YES!!! Stepping out has been one of the hardest things for me- because then that means I need to fully depend on the Lord and be completely vulnerable in the process! What an encouragement! I have a vision and many different ideas to reflect it, but my struggle has been where do I marry all the ideas to make sense of it all! Prayer and direction is so needed so please if you don’t mind! I would love to hear some counsel on this. I am not sure if you are available for such a thing.
