Do you feel stuck in your current season, unsure of your purpose and passions? As a coach who has supported countless women over the last twelve years, I’ve helped them  uncover their unique purpose and connect the dots on how it aligns to work in the marketplace.

You have an assignment in every season, and the question is, are you aware of what it is? God has plans for our lives; it’s up to us to discover and discern the opportunities surrounding us and then passionately pursue them with Him.

But how do we discover those opportunities? It starts with becoming self-aware and paying attention to what God is doing in our lives.

There are three ways to think about vocational alignment:

  1. My Mission. Think of this as your assignment. The conviction that brews within you. The thing you need to  contribute to the world. This can also be seasonal so don’t get lost in the belief that there is only one thing you are called to do. These types of thoughts can create unnecessary pressure that can lead to anxiety.
  2. My Gifts. You have gifts that are unique to you. These strengths can either be parked and made dormant, or they can be planted to produce fruit. Either way it’s important that you know what they are and how they align to your mission.
  3. My People. Who are you fighting for, and who are the few fighting for you? You need to surround yourself with the right village who’s going to be there in the highs, lows, and in-betweens.

Those are three critical areas to focus on as you discover your next season of work.

Below you can get more tactical with prompts and exercises.

Here are a few journal prompts to help you discover work you are called to:

  • What is it that makes you come alive?
  • What are your deepest passions and desires?
  • What breaks your heart?
  • What sets your soul on fire?

Through prayer, meditation, and journaling, we can uncover our interests, desires, needs, and opportunities in the world. Don’t be afraid to explore new things and leave your comfort zone. Like seasons change throughout the year, so can your work. Especially in this new era of work. Work looks very different than it did ten years ago.

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.” – Steve Jobs

Here are some powerful coaching questions to journal through as you seek to uncover your mission:

  • What are the moments in your life where you have felt the most alive and fulfilled?
  • What are the things that bring you the most joy?
  • What is holding you back from pursuing your passions?
  • How can you use your gifts and talents to serve others and glorify God?

Here are some coaching exercises you can do:

  • Make a list of your strengths and weaknesses, and think about how you can use your strengths to serve others.
  • Try new things and step out of your comfort zone. Attend a new church or ministry event, take a course or workshop, or try a new hobby you’ve been interested in.
  • Surround yourself with positive and supportive people who will encourage you to pursue your dreams.
  • Set aside dedicated time for prayer, meditation, and journaling to reflect and listen to God’s voice for direction.
  • Seek out a coach ( Apply for Grit & Virtue Coaching Here ) or mentor who can help you navigate the journey of uncovering your purpose and passions.

As you begin to uncover your next assignment, it’s essential to trust in God’s direction for your life. Remember that God has a plan for your life, no matter how our world is shifting, and it’s up to you to uncover your unique mission and fulfill it with clarity, conviction, and confidence.
Don’t be afraid to step out in faith, but if you are, surround yourself with those who will encourage, support, and coach you every step of the way.

Rooting for you!
